Director, Supply Chain and Sourcing
Job Summary
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team reporting to the President and CEO, the Director of Supply Chain and Sourcing will lead and oversee all aspects of the supply chain function, ensuring efficient and cost-effective procurement, production support, inventory management, logistics, supplier negotiation and contracts, supplier quality and performance monitoring, and building supplier relationships. The
Director is responsible for the creation and implementation of effective strategies to increase the maturity of procurement and supply chain practices across the organization, support continuous improvement and build a results-oriented and customer-focused culture exemplified by a high-performance team.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop and cross functionally approve multi-year volume forecasts to use with strategic suppliers for RFI/RFP/RFQ purposes aimed at developing cost reduction roadmaps to meet and exceed organizational targets and to ensure the best possible pricing and terms for negotiated supply agreements
- Collaborate with Product Development, Programs, and Operations to Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers to support ongoing operations as well as product development.
- Perform ongoing global assessment of supply base for current and future strategic component technologies to enhance multi-source component supply opportunities, local supply for global production locations, and adoption of new component manufacturing technologies based on quality, cost, reliability, and serviceability.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and future approved suppliers, monitoring performance and resolving any issues or disputes that may arise
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to maximize value and mitigate risks
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure adherence to contractual obligations and quality standards.
- Oversee the sourcing of raw materials, components, and services, ensuring that all suppliers meet required quality standards and deadlines. Negotiate contracts to secure the best terms for cost, quality, and delivery.
- Optimize inventory levels to balance production needs and working capital. Implement efficient warehouse operations and oversee inventory control measures to minimize waste and downtime.
- Manage logistics partners and ensure timely delivery of materials to the production line and finished goods to customers. Oversee transportation and storage to minimize costs while maintaining service levels.
- Collaborate with production teams to align supply chain operations with production schedules, ensuring materials are available for manufacturing processes without interruptions.
- Ensure that all supply chain activities comply with aerospace regulations, including AS9100 and ISO standards. Mitigate risks related to supply disruptions, compliance issues, and market volatility.
- Work across other business units to identify synergies and share best practices.
- Lead and develop the supply chain team, including procurement, logistics, and inventory control staff. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
Minimum Requirements
- Strong knowledge of procurement, logistics, production planning, and inventory management.
- A minimum of 10 years of procurement experience within a technical volume manufacturing environment, including leading and supporting multiple Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) phases from cradle to grave
- Aerospace experience is not mandatory but highly preferred.
- Familiarity with aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements.
- Professional qualification in Supply Chain and Logistics (e.g., SCMP, APICS, CIPS, ISM) preferred
- Proven experience in procurement and sourcing, preferably in a leadership role.
- Deep knowledge of procurement best practices, market trends, and supplier management strategies.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in using procurement software and tools.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve targets and objectives.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
